Hover Cars

In our Hover cars, the cars will move and levitate with fans. The fan will be located at the bottom of the car, so when it turns on the fan will make the car levitate. While this happens there will be a turbine in the back of the car. There will be imaginary, aerial, streets that can only be seen with a special camera that all hover cars will have. In spite of all this information a simpler way to put it would be a inverse helicopter with a turbine.

We have passed through lots of theories in the imagining of the Hover Car. Our first theory was magnetism. In this theories we were going to put a negative magnet on the street and also a negative magnet on the car, this way the car will be floating in mid air with no motor. We didn't do this theory because we didn't know how to make the car move forward. On the other hand, we decided for the best theory to be for the car to be floating with fans and a turbine in the end to make it move. Although we could use magnetism we chose fans because its a much simpler idea.

Research Topic: FANS

3 resources to topic:

1.) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mechanical_fan (wikipedia, 2012)

I think that this is a good resource because it is .org, so it is a organization.
"A mechanical fan is a machine used to create flow within a fluid, typically a gas such as air" In this webpage they explain how fans work and all the things we use fans for.
  •  A mechanical fan is a machine used to create flow within a fluid, typically a gas such as air.
  • A fan consists of a rotating arrangement of vanes or blades which act on the air.
  •  While fans are often used to cool people, they do not actually cool air,  but work by evaporation cooling of sweat and increased heat conduction into the surrounding air due to the airflow from the fans.
  •  The punkah fan was used in the India in the early 500 BC.

2.) http://www.omafra.gov.on.ca/english/engineer/facts/06-057.htm (Clarke, 2006)

I think this is a really reliable source because it has the .gov, which means that it's a government page and government would not put something that is not true. In this webpage they talk about how fans work, what is a more efficient fan and maintenance. This webpage would help me a lot because it show lots of thing that would help me do my project.
  •   A large percentage of livestock buildings are ventilated using mechanical fan systems.
  •   Oversize fans waste energy
  •  Another rating is horsepower (HP). This refers to power at the shaft, again, at steady-state conditions. This number is not reliable for comparing fan efficiencies.
  •  Check fans regularly to ensure that they are properly maintained.

3.) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eBGYx2WbLis  (ArchangelSandalphon, 2007)

I think that this is a good resource because the video looks like it was made by a TV program. they show prototypes, and show how hover cars will levitate with magnetism.
  •  In this video they show how hover cars will be levitated with magnetism
  • How the streets will be a magnet and the cars another
  • They also show trains floating in the air
 2 New Theories
  • A new theory would be that cars fly with turbines, like the Harrier war airplane. They levitate with turbines and go forward with them too.
  • Another theory would be that the streets have fans on the bottom and the cars would be gliders, very light so they fly.
3 New Questions
  • How much time does it take to build a hover car?
  • How could streets have magnets?
  • How would we instal fans on the streets for gliders?

APA notes

American Psychological Association
- It’s often used for several areas related to psychology, sociology or social work and some of the general sciences.
- For papers with APA format include in-texts citations and a list of references/bibliography.
- For presentations or projects with APA format the citations are included within the presentation itself, but it should also include a reference page.

Basic In-Text Citation Format
- Direct Quote: Includes the author, the date of the work, the citation and finally the page number.
- Paraphrasing or Summarizing: Includes the author and date of work with a slightly different configuration depending on your sentence. It’s not necessary to write the page number unless you’re going to use several/multiple ideas in your paper from that source.

List of References Citation Format
- Book: Name of the author/editor, date, title of the book and the location of the publisher/publishing company.
- Journal Article: Names of the authors, date, title of the article, name of the journal, the volume and issue, page numbers and a DOI number.
- Website: Author/Institution behind the website, date the information was posted/updated, title of the page/document and the URL.
